The prestigious 8th Annual EPRA Leadership and Entrepreneurial Summit and Awards UK 2026, held on Friday, 25 September 2026, at the London School of Management Education (LSME), Gants Hill, Ilford, featured an important academic, presentation by Professor Oluwaseyi Olayinka Yusuf, Professor of Human Kinetics and Health at Prairie View A&M University, Texas, USA.

The distinguished academic addressed the summit on the thought-provoking topic:

“From Prediction to Prevention: The Next Frontier of AI in Precision Healthcare.”

His presentation formed part of the summit’s broader theme, “Building a Better Life in a Changing World: Empowering People through Health, Skills, and Opportunity.”

The occasion brought together distinguished academics, healthcare professionals, civic leaders, entrepreneurs, traditional rulers, business executives and community champions to explore innovative solutions to contemporary challenges while celebrating individuals making outstanding contributions to society.

Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Healthcare

Professor Yusuf’s presentation focused on one of the most significant developments shaping modern healthcare: the growing potential of artificial intelligence to support early disease detection, personalised healthcare and preventive medicine.

The subject explored how emerging technologies could help transform healthcare systems from predominantly reactive models, where patients receive treatment after developing illnesses, towards more proactive approaches that identify health risks earlier and support timely intervention.

Artificial intelligence can assist healthcare professionals in analysing complex health information, identifying patterns and assessing potential risks associated with chronic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and certain cancers.

The presentation also provided a valuable opportunity to consider how AI-driven technologies, when appropriately validated and responsibly implemented, could support clinical decision-making, improve healthcare efficiency and contribute to better patient outcomes.

""

Human Kinetics, Healthy Living and Preventive Medicine

Drawing upon his academic specialism in Human Kinetics and Health, Professor Yusuf’s lecture topic also highlighted the important relationship between physical activity, lifestyle choices and long-term health.

The integration of artificial intelligence with wearable technologies, health-monitoring devices and personalised wellness programmes offers promising opportunities for encouraging healthier lifestyles and supporting preventive healthcare.

Such technologies may help healthcare professionals monitor physical activity, identify potential health risks and support individuals in managing their wellbeing.

The wider discussion reinforced the importance of combining scientific innovation with education, physical activity, professional expertise and compassionate healthcare delivery.

Preparing Healthcare Professionals for an AI-Driven Future

Another important dimension of the presentation was the need to equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills required to operate effectively in an increasingly digital healthcare environment.

As artificial intelligence becomes more integrated into healthcare systems, professionals will need stronger competencies in digital health, data interpretation, cybersecurity awareness and responsible technology use.

The subject also emphasised the importance of maintaining professional accountability, protecting patient confidentiality and ensuring that technological advancements support rather than replace human clinical judgement.

For healthcare professionals attending EPRA-UK 2026, the presentation offered an opportunity to reflect on how innovation, continuous learning and professional development could help shape the future of patient care.

International Collaboration and Healthcare Education

Professor Yusuf’s participation also highlighted the value of international academic engagement and knowledge-sharing between institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom and Africa.

His presence at the summit provided a platform for considering future educational partnerships, professional exchange programmes and collaborative initiatives in healthcare innovation, preventive medicine and workforce development.

Such opportunities align with EPRA’s wider commitment to promoting education, skills advancement, professional excellence and international cooperation.

Key Messages and Potential Outcomes

The presentation provided a foundation for several important recommendations:

  • Encouraging greater awareness of artificial intelligence and its potential applications in preventive healthcare.

  • Promoting early disease detection and personalised approaches to health management.

  • Supporting continuous professional development and digital skills training for healthcare workers.

  • Strengthening awareness of ethical considerations, patient confidentiality and cybersecurity in digital healthcare.

  • Exploring international academic partnerships, research collaboration and healthcare exchange programmes.

  • Encouraging investment in preventive healthcare, physical activity and community health education.

These priorities reflect the growing importance of combining healthcare expertise, technological innovation and education to address future health challenges.
